Darlington Employers Environment Partnership (DEEP) is a collaboration of likeminded local businesses committed to working together to generate more sustainable outcomes from products, services, and approaches.

Objectives

The purpose of the group is to act as a champion for the business community in and around Darlington to:
- Demonstrate an ambition to reduce environmental impact and support the transition towards net zero.
- Share knowledge, information and best practice in order to learn from each other.
- Link with local, regional and national initiatives.
- Celebrate achievement on sustainability.
- Monitor progress against pledges & commitments.
- Publicise local initiatives and showcase the role Darlington-based businesses can play in enabling a just transition to net zero across the UK and further afield.
“The businesses coming together in DEEP have generated a real sense of momentum that is really encouraging, and we are not aware of another town in the UK that has shown the same kind of proactivity in developing a partnership approach to a momentous challenge facing businesses worldwide.
“Our aim is to encourage as many organisations as possible to play their part, and to learn from each other.
“It’s a macro to micro approach in which everyone – from major companies down to individuals – should be asking the question: ‘What contribution can I make?’
“Let’s acknowledge that we all have a responsibility but, at the same time, use DEEP as a way of promoting local businesses, and showcasing Darlington as a progressive place, where we support each other and operate collaboratively.”
